As an athlete, heavy equipment is a real pain since it adds weight and friction to your motions, lowering your speed and mobility significantly. This is one of the reasons why some people lose the competition.

So what about playing on your own computers and cellphones?

According to historians, the Nintendo World Championships in 1990 were the first major video game competition. Thousands of gamers competed for high scores in Super Mario Brothers, Tetris, and Rad Racers during the event. The event visited 20 American cities and the highest scorings in each location were then invited to fight for the title of World Champion at Universal Hollywood Studios in Los Angeles. Three age groups resulted in three champions, each receiving $10,000, a new television, and a golden Mario trophy.

The competitive gaming industry is on the cusp of a major shift from small gatherings of people playing for fun to blood, sweat, and tears of professional athletes battling for millions of dollars in sports arenas.

E-sports require brilliant hand-eye coordination, superb problem-solving skills, strategy-building abilities, mental attitude, and mindset. A game’s preparation is similar to that of any other professional sport: it entails daily training, discipline, and adherence to routines. The gamers, like any other competitor, are under tremendous pressure to win.

Five of the grandest e-sports tournaments include Honor of Kings World Champion Cup, Evolution Championship Series, Fortnite World Cup Champion, League of Legends World Championship, and DOTA 2 “The International”.
